Stop Wasting Money & Create NEW with the Pieces You Already Own!

How many times have you walked in your closet and looked at all of the clothes and thought, "Today I am going to wear something new" but after about 10 minutes of trying to put together a new outfit, you just gave up and put on one of your "tried and true" outfits?

This is a common problem.  Between living a busy life, not allowing ourselves enough time to be creative in our closet each morning, and not understanding the rules of style, the closet becomes a place of frustration for women.

Many times there is also a lot of guilt women have inside their closet because they see that their closets are full of clothes, but they only wear a fraction of them.  In fact, studies have shown that women wear only 20% of their closet 80% of the time.  This leads to feeling very stale in their style.

As a Style Coach™, I help guide women to create a wardrobe that they love by working with them to strategically identify their vision and to learn what to look for and how to shop for their body type, their lifestyle, and their personality.  When all these things come together, it works beautifully to bring the joy back into getting dressed each day.  It also creates a clarity and a purpose when shopping for clothes.  It's an amazing and transformational experience for women who go through the process.  In addition, it allows for creativity because the pieces inside of their wardrobes are versatile and cohesive and make it fun and more simplified getting dressed each day.

Evolving Life & Style

Style ruts are very common and something that every single person faces at some point, and many times, repeatedly.  Not only is fashion and what is “in style” changing constantly, but many times we aren’t really taking the time or energy to evaluate how WE are changing over time.  Whether that be weight loss, weight gain, bodies shifting as we age, changing jobs, changing lifestyles as our children get older, change in marital status, etc.  A woman’s style should always be evolving, and yet as life ebbs and flows and seems to be fuller of activities, we don’t give ourselves the time to respect those changes, so style can feel very mis-aligned.  You may wake up and feel like nothing in your closet brings you joy and not able to put a finger on why and this could be the very reason.  YOU have changed, YOU have evolved, your values have changed or evolved, your mind has changed or evolved, but your style has been left to the wayside.

If you have you ever said:

·      I’m so tired of wearing the same 5 outfits over and over

·      I don’t understand what is currently in-style

·      I don’t know how to mix and match my clothes and make better use of my closet

·      I don't have time to get creative with my wardrobe

·      I am nervous to try and mix up my wardrobe

·      I feel like I have no style

·      I hate being invited to events because I don’t have anything to wear

…then you will want to keep reading!

Here is the truth:  you likely have pieces in your closet that would be beautiful on your body, but you just haven’t taken the time to play with them and create a little style magic.  It’s very exciting when you take the time to play inside of your closet because it not only lights a fire inside of your creative right brain, but it is also extremely rewarding because you are USING the pieces you purchased that are taking up real estate in your closet.  You’ve already spent the money on the item, so let’s see if we can make them work for you with fresh eyes.

Finding ways to mix and match clothes inside of your closet can be one of the most liberating feelings because it makes it feel like your closet has depth to it, but in a way that is easy to put together in a pinch.

Once you have gotten into your closet and begun to create new looks, you will feel like you have a new wardrobe because even creating just a few new outfits makes you feel refreshed and excited.  You may even find that you want to experiment more often because it gives you a lift not only in your style, but in your confidence.  Feeling stylish and loving the outfits you adorn your body with lights you up from the inside and puts a pep in your step that makes you throw your shoulders back and walk taller.  It's a very impactful experience.

Why Style is Important: The High Cost of Not Caring

Close your eyes. Transport yourself to a moment in time when you felt absolutely beautiful. Maybe it was yesterday. Maybe it was when you were heading to an special event. Maybe it was when you were going on your first date. Maybe it was your wedding day. When you close your eyes, think about these things: How did you look? How did you feel? What were you wearing? What was the fabric like? How did the clothes fit your body? What did your hair look like? What did your makeup look like? Were you smiling at yourself in the mirror? How long did it take you to get ready that day? Did you take pictures of yourself? What thoughts did you have when you saw yourself in the mirror? When you open your eyes, I want you to think about the last time you felt that amazing? That powerful? That beautiful?  When's the last time you cared like that? When's the last time you allowed yourself to take that long to get ready? As I shared in last week's blog ( https://stylesynchrony.blogspot.com/...

How to look stylish in your 40s (and beyond)

You're here! Congratulations because that is Step 1: Caring enough to want to make a change. Here's the thing, nothing changes if nothing changes. The biggest roadblock is if you aren't fed up ENOUGH with how you are feeling about your style (and likely yourself), you will never make a change. That's not you though, my friend, because you found this blog and opened it!  Step one is complete. Let's celebrate that! via GIPHY Here's what you already know. Style in your 40s and beyond (we will call this "midlife" going forward) is...different.  👉Our bodies are changing. Things don't sit where they used to. 👉Our priorities have changed. Most of the time, we aren't out all night at the bars. 👉Our lives have a new focus, oftentimes around our family. 👉Fashion and clothing is not typically geared toward women our age. It's commonplace for women who are in midlife to feel like they are lacking style or being left-behind, but that doesn't hav...

The Importance of a Conscious Closet (and what is it?!)

Many times as consumers, we look at our shopping habits when it comes to clothing in terms of how much we are spending, where we are spending our money and the comfort and wearability of our clothes.   These things are all relevant.   However, one area that is becoming increasingly important to consider for value-driven shoppers and for those who are concerned about the environment is the true impacts that our clothing purchases have on the future of Earth and the lives of humans living on it right now. Today is the first of a 2-part blog series about Fast Fashion versus Sustainable Fashion.  Whether you care about the environment or not, I heartily believe it is important for all of us to take a look at our decisions as consumers and understand these topics so we can make our decisions coming from a place of knowledge.  The decisions we make today will impact not just our own lives, but the lives of our children and grandchildren and cannot be ignored. Clothes cou...
