The Secret to Simplified Dressing

I hear from women all of the time some version of the following: I don't need new clothes, I don't wear half of what I own. It's hard to put together a great outfit in my closet. I haven't worn what I bought last season, I don't need something new. I bought this piece because I loved it, but I have never figured out how to wear it. Do any of those statements sound familiar? GUILTY! We create so much confusion, chaos, and stress in our closets without even realizing what we are doing. The truth is that most women, when out shopping, tend towards the pretty statement pieces and ignore the basics.  When you do this is when you find that you "have a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear". Women wear only 20% - 30% of what is in their closet. In the digital and technological age, we as humans are attracted to shiny things.  We also live in a world of Amazon and want what we want ... and NOW! This contributes to another commonly heard statement that I he...

Style By Personality: A Visual Explanation

Last week, I wrote a blog post titled Style and Communicating "Who You Be" . I have linked it just in case you happened to miss it.  Inside of last week's blog, I explained that finding an authentic style is certainly not cookie cutter.  There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to Personal Style. I also talked about how style codes (as I refer to them) are a combination of both Yin (female energy) and Yang (male energy).  We all have BOTH, regardless of our gender. Again, if you would like to understand more before I get into this week, I highly suggest you read last week's blog if you haven't already.  I will wait... Now that we are on the same page with how your Style Personality (or Style Code) is determined, let's get into THIS week. While we each have one masculine and one feminine energy, I thought it may be helpful to show some images of how this translates into an outfit for each personality.  The masculine energies (Yang) are: Dramatic...

Setting your intention for 2024 and keeping your commitments to yourself

Happy New Year!  It's always so hard to fathom that another year has come and gone as we look forward to a brand new year.  What is so refreshing about the New Year is that it feels like a clean slate.  We can begin anew with new intentions and goals.   In the previous post, we explored the importance of reflecting on your 2023 and setting intentions for 2024. If you missed that post, you can re-visit it here. As I promised in my last post, we are going to take our reflections from the past year and dive deeper into two powerful tools for personal growth: choosing a "word of the year" and keeping commitments to yourself. Choosing a word of the year is going to change how you look at your intentions.  Remember, we are not making resolutions, we are setting intentions because they are more flexible when life throws curveballs at us.  Living your life by focusing on one particular word that you want to live by is extremely transformative.  Your ...

Reflecting on 2023 from a place of kindess

The end of the year is always such a busy time. There are so many things to do and I am going to suggest that you add just one more to your list.  I believe it's important to take time for reflection. Let's face it, the years seem to go faster and faster with each passing one and it's easy to forget or "misplace" all that you have accomplished in the past year. Many times when people talk about reflecting back on the past year, they think of it from a place of negativity.  They think that reflection is about what DIDN'T get done, but I encourage you to reflect from a place of positivity. By reflecting on both the things that you did AND did not get done, it will allow you to evaluate what that means.  Is it really something that is important to you?  Do you need to remove that thing from your list or make a new commitment because upon reflection you realize just how important it is? By reflecting on the past year, it allows you to tap into personal growth. Thi...
