Quiet Luxury: What It Is and What I Should Know About this HUGE Fall Trend

One of the biggest trends of the season is a really seemingly simple one.  It's called Quiet Luxury, aka "Stealth Wealth".  Back in the day, showing off the brands you were wearing and highlighting when you had on something luxury was the thing to do.  Today, that is very passe. Wearing logos and showing brands is very dated.

The idea of Quiet Luxury is to dress in a very understated way.  It's a quiet elegance and a focus on quality rather than showing off a logo.  It's a quite refined minimalistic take on fashion where crisp, sharp, clean pieces are at the forefront.

I am OBSESSED with the Television show "Succession" on Max.  Have you seen it?  The style on this show is the epitome of Quiet Luxury.

The style on this show doesn't scream, but instead simply oozes subtle and luxurious.  You can tell that the fabrics are refined, the styling is very classic. And if you know anything about the Roy family, they would sneer down their noses at you if you were to tell them they are dressed anything but perfectly.

With Quiet Luxury, you want to focus on high-quality fabrics.  Not only do silk, wool, fine leather, and cashmere feel amazing on your body, they have a really refined texture that speaks for itself.

Also, you will focus on timeless pieces.  There is nothing "trendy" here, these are going to be investment pieces that you have for the long haul.

Next up, this trend is the antithesis of color.  This look is all about your rich neutrals.  Think tans, cream, black, white, and other earthy tones (perfect for Fall, no?).

Fit, fit, fit!  To be honest, this one is important regardless of Quiet Luxury, but tailored perfection is not just an idea, it's absolutely necessary.  Make sure that the pieces you wear look like they were custom-made. This is where a good Tailor in your back pocket is worth it's weight in gold!

Sustainability - many people who adopt a "stealth wealth" mindset are looking for eco-friendly items because the type of materials and fabrics used in these pieces are natural.  When you shop sustainably, you are also not purchasing a piece knowing it will fall apart and end up in a landfill.  You are purchasing quality pieces to last for years.  You are making a wardrobe investment with these pieces.

Finally, think about the importance of your accessories with this way of dressing.  You want to choose simple, elegant pieces that don't overpower your outfit, just harmonize and enhance it.  A simple gold watch is a perfect accessory for this look.

Inside of The Chic Style Society this month our topic is Iconic Style.  This goes perfectly with the idea of Quiet Luxury.  We are talking about how to create your own Iconic Style and what it is.  If you would love to join the membership, head to this link to read about this amazing Membership community.  We would love for you to join us!

Until next week....

Stylishly Yours,

Empowering One Another To Be Our Best Selves

You can never get yesterday back.  Do you ever find yourself wishing you had done something differently and getting stuck in that hamster-wheel of regretful thoughts? Or even worse, how often have you had a friend share a huge win that they had with you and externally, you told them how proud you were of them and how amazing it was for them to have had this success only to leave the conversation feeling LACK? We all get one life, just one.  We can't go back in time and take something we said back.  We can't go back and change how we did something yesterday, BUT we can use what we learned from it to step into TODAY with a better intention and by growing and learning from our past actions and feelings. Friend!  We have ONE LIFE .  Don't you want to live it in joy, with people you love, doing the things you love, and aspiring to be the best you that you can be?  How amazing to know that as you set your head down on your pillow at the end of the day, you did yo...

The Importance of a Conscious Closet (and what is it?!)

Many times as consumers, we look at our shopping habits when it comes to clothing in terms of how much we are spending, where we are spending our money and the comfort and wearability of our clothes.   These things are all relevant.   However, one area that is becoming increasingly important to consider for value-driven shoppers and for those who are concerned about the environment is the true impacts that our clothing purchases have on the future of Earth and the lives of humans living on it right now. Today is the first of a 2-part blog series about Fast Fashion versus Sustainable Fashion.  Whether you care about the environment or not, I heartily believe it is important for all of us to take a look at our decisions as consumers and understand these topics so we can make our decisions coming from a place of knowledge.  The decisions we make today will impact not just our own lives, but the lives of our children and grandchildren and cannot be ignored. Clothes cou...

Ready to Wear is NOT Ready to Wear!

I recently attended two formal events.  I LOVE dressing up and getting "fancy".  It seems to be a bit of a lost art these days. Dressing up makes you feel beautiful and what that does for your confidence is immeasurable. As I shared photos of my dress and received many compliments on my dresses, it occurred to me that NO ONE understands that the dress I wore was different than the dress I ordered.  As a Stylist, I feel like an awareness must be brought to this topic. You see, when I ordered the two dresses, I looked at the size charts (as everyone SHOULD do when shopping online), but guess what?!  The sizes were not perfect for my measurements!  Here is a truth:  READY TO WEAR IS NOT READY TO WEAR! Our bodies are all unique.  The way a size 10 fits one person will not fit her friend in a size 10 in the same way EVEN IF they are both a size 10!  Our bodies are unique in that we all are different heights, we have different body types, different prop...
